Meet the Faculty


Adrienne Carson Arp '92

Adrienne Arp is the Director of Development, and has been at PBDA since 2015. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Utah. A 1992 PBDA Alumna, Adrienne is also the parent of Lily 2019, Mary 2022 and Griffin 2024.

Martha Bjorklund

Martha Bjorklund is the Head of Lower School. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Skidmore College and her M.S. in Reading from Fordham University. Martha served as the Assistant Head of Lower School among other duties at Allendale Columbia School in Rochester, NY for 18 years following 16 years of teaching at Saint David's School in New York City. She has been at PBDA since 2018.

Billy Coyle

Billy Coyle is the Director of Finance and Operations, and has been at PBDA since 2007. He graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University, and holds a B.S.Ed. in Business Education from Central Connecticut State University. Billy is the parent of Amanda 2011 and Ryan 2013.

Dorothea Cvelbar

Dorothea Cvelbar is the Associate Director of Admission and has been at PBDA since 1990. She graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education - Early Childhood from Bridgewater State College. Dorothea is the parent of Marin 2021.

Stephanie Filauro

Stephanie Filauro is the Director of Admission, and has been at PBDA since 2019. She graduated with a B.A. in Communications from the University of Maryland, a M.A.T. in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a M.S. in Administration and Supervision from Fordham University. Stephanie previously served as a first grade teacher and Assistant Principal at private schools in New York City. Stephanie is the parent of Clara.

PBDA Associate Director of Marketing Brent Gallagher

Brent Gallagher

Brent Gallagher is the Associate Director of Marketing, and has been at PBDA since 2019. She graduated with a B.A., Strategic Communications degree from Elon University.

Fanning M. Hearon III

Fanning Hearon serves as Palm Beach Day Academy's Head of School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and Spanish from Middlebury College. He completed his Master of Hispanic Civilizations degree at New York University in Madrid, Spain.

Mr. Hearon served three years as Head of School at Maple Street School, prior to which he was Assistant Head of School and Academic Dean at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vermont for five years. Fanning also spent thirteen years at the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he was an AP Spanish teacher, lacrosse coach, Class Dean and Chair of the Modern Languages Department. Fanning began his 27 year career in independent school education at his alma mater, the Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, where he served as a teacher, coach, dorm parent, Director of the WFS Summer School in Spain program and Assistant Director of Admissions.

Fanning and his wife Christy have two adult sons, Miles and Aicher.

Sarah Kemeness

Sarah Kemeness is the Head of Upper School, and has been at PBDA since 2015. She graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Miami, and a M.A in Education Administration from Florida International University

Richard Tummon

Richard Tummon is a teacher/administrator, and has been at PBDA since 1991. He graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science & Biology from Richard Stockton State University. He currently teaches 5th Grade Honors English and Reading, and also serves as the Director of Communications and Smith Theater House Manager. Richard is the parent of Katie 2003, Brandon 2004, Brian 2005 and Alexandra 2014.
