2018 Enchanted Forest Book Fair
Posted on: November 14, 2018
By Jennifer Andreon,
PBDA celebrated another amazing Book Fair week this year and our week-long fair was headed by our superstar co-chairs, Lyanne Azqueta and Juliana Gendelman. We started off our Enchanted Forest Book Fair on Friday, November 2nd when Mr. Jason Briggs and his father dressed up as a unicorn and a gnome to welcome students at the Lower Campus. That same day our very own Scholastic author and Upper Campus English teacher, Jen Howard, presented to the 3rd and 4th Graders about the writing process and being an author.
The Fair was a tremendous success, thanks to the many families that shopped and shared their enthusiasm for books with their children. Each grade, Pre-Primary through Grade 5, had the opportunity to visit the Book Fair during the week and students and their parents had a wonderful time shopping for new and exciting books and other reading paraphernalia.
While the Book Fair serves as a fundraiser, its main purpose is to unite kids with literature and bring the community together in honor of that mission. PBDA students eagerly peeked in the library at every opportunity, and some students visited the fair every single day! One of the best things about Book Fair week is walking the halls, looking into the cafeteria, watching the students at car line eagerly devouring their book purchases. Teachers provided recommendations for parents and students, and the students themselves enjoyed sharing their choices with other students.
On Thursday, November 8th the Lower Campus enjoyed our annual Pajama Day. Teachers and students alike spent the day in comfy pajamas and robes, reading and enjoying various activities tied to literature. During the day Mrs. Bjorkland and Mrs. Andreon read aloud to students in their classrooms. Coach Kelly and Coach Rusty hosted our Pajama Day Dance Party during P.E. in the Mashek Discovery Space, where children enjoyed doing the Macarena, the Cha Cha Slide and many other dances.
We want to thank our Book Fair Chairs for their countless hours running the fair, and parent volunteers Kelly Braunstein, Phatavan Olsen, Tara Vecellio, Chris Goldberg, Robert Douglas, Brandie Herbst, Joan Klann, Jessica Koch, Shayla McGuire, Seena Carrington, Alexandra Garrison Neville, Mae Ferguson, Liza Mauk, Alexis Bonner, Marianick Simon, Christina Macfarland, Mario Pommier, Carmen Sosin, Dylan Harrison, and Chris Evans
Thank you to all for your generous support!
