Upper Campus Math Teacher (Grades 6-9) for 2022-23

Palm Beach Day Academy seeks a Math Teacher for Grades 6-9 on the Upper Campus for the 2022-2023 school year.

Candidates should have the willingness to teach our 6th-9th grade math courses, which includes from 6th-grade math through Pre-Calculus, our most advanced class offered to those students who are able. The Math Department members utilize the TI84+CE graphing calculator and its many applications (i.e. coding) as well as other math applications, including DESMOS and GeoGebra. As the students participate in local math competitions, strong candidates have experience coaching or assisting a math team.

Candidates have a strong understanding of the middle school child and will bring a sense of humor, empathy, and collaboration to campus. This candidate is flexible and stays current with educational research in order to be prepared to teach the course content effectively. A strong understanding of utilizing technology as a teaching tool in our one-to-one computing environment is important. Teachers should include a variety of teaching strategies in and out of the classroom in order to be effective for all types of learners. This may include, but not limited to: hands-on learning; project-based learning; place-based learning; collaborative activities; content reading; discussion; and
technology.

Strong candidates will have 5-7 years of middle or high school experience. While all applicants will hold a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Mathematics (Grades 6-12), a Master’s degree is preferred.
