Upper Campus Math Teacher (Grades 6-9)
The Upper Campus, which houses students in Grades 4 – 9, seeks a Math teacher to begin August 2022 for the 2022-2023 school year. Candidate will teach Grades 6-9.
Candidates should have a willingness to teach high level math classes to middle school students. Those classes include Geometry, Algebra II, Functions/Statistics/ Trigonometry (FST), and Pre-Calculus. The Math Department members utilize the TI84+CE graphing calculator and its many applications (i.e. coding) as well as other math applications, including DESMOS and GeoGebra. As the students participate in local math competitions, strong candidates have experience coaching or assisting a math team.
Candidates have a strong understanding of the middle school child and will bring a sense of humor, empathy, and collaboration to campus. This candidate is flexible and stays current with educational research in order to be prepared to teach the course content effectively. A strong understanding of utilizing technology as a teaching tool in our one-to-one computing environment is important. Teachers should include a variety of teaching strategies in and out of the classroom in order to be effective for all types of learners. This may include, but not limited to: hands-on learning; project-based learning; place-based learning; collaborative activities; content reading; discussion; and technology.
Strong candidates will have 5-7 years of middle or high school experience. While all applicants will hold a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Mathematics (Grades 6-12), a Master’s degree is preferred
