PBDA Hosts Palm Beach Symphony’s Chamber Music Concert Series Quartet
CAPEHART – Dr. Jones with PBDA students

On Wednesday, January 10, Palm Beach Day Academy hosted the first of Palm Beach Symphony’s Chamber Music Concert Series – “Playing Still: The Dean of Afro-American Composers – the music of William Grant Still,” narrated by Dr. Rufus Jones and performed by a quartet of Evija Ozolins and Valentin Mansurov, violins; Chauncey Patterson, viola; and Claudio Jaffe, cello.

Earlier that day, Dr. Jones spoke to the students on the Upper Campus about the work of William Grant Still and about the obstacles he had to overcome as an African-American composing in the European classical style.
