Achieve more through STEAM.
STEAM – which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math – is widely recognized as a vital approach to education.
When STEAM rooms work properly, students make the decisions, control the direction of their projects and solve problems as a team of scientists, engineers, artists and mathematicians.
Palm Beach Day Academy believes so strongly in the value of STEAM that it has hired its first STEAM Scholar-in-Residence.
Litzrudy Justinvil, M.D., joined the school in September, working with faculty and students on both campuses, team-teaching with core faculty members and advising on curricular matters. He collaborates on project-based learning activities with faculty colleagues and engages PBDA along with its community partners in a larger conversation about what it means for students to be scientifically literate citizens.
Dr. Justinvil previously served as IB Chemistry and Biology teacher at Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach, where he was a highly acclaimed teacher for eight years. Dr. Justinvil received his Bachelor of Science degree in pre-medicine at Palm Beach Atlantic College and his M.D. at University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. He is the recipient of many awards, most recently the Carrie P. Meek Outstanding Education Leadership Achievement Award for his accomplishments as a mentor-teacher and leader in science education.
